Article: NSF Intl.: working with the plumbing industry since 1965.(2008 Case History)

For more than 60 years, NSF Intl. has been known for its protection of public health in the areas of food and water safety. What began as a concept of three University of Michigan School of Public Health professors back in 1944, has today become an international not-for-profit organization that writes standards and tests and certifies products to ensure their safety.

The Food Equipment certification program is NSF's oldest, developed following the creation of NSF flagship restaurant-industry standards. Today, NSF certifies more than 100,000 products to one or more of the 22 NSF food equipment standards in existence.
