Guglielmo Marconi was a young inventor who live in Bologna, Italy, in 1895. The 21-year-old inventor enjoyed tinkering with electronic components. He had discovered that by connecting wires to a battery and attaching a dial, he could pick up a static sound from air. Guglielmo built a small black box to store the components. Then he came up with another idea. After building another little black box and filling it with similar components, he then asked his brother, Alfonso, to go over the hill and speak into the box. Guglielmo listened intently. Within seconds, he heard the faint sounds of his brother's voice coming over the black box. Marconi had invented the radio.
