THE weak pound is fuelling a North East tourism boom. Passengers flocking to sample the region's scenic splendour and historic sites are expected to pump pounds 6.5m into the region's economy by 2010.
Europeans cashing in on the weak pound and discounts in shops led to ferry company DFDS recording a 20% in passengers in the first six of the year as visitors came over for weekend shopping breaks.
Port of Tyne is set to welcome 23 cruise liners this year, including the return of Holland America's Rotterdam, Prinsendam and Eurodam, ...
