Since the early '80s the use of polypropylene for food packaging has increased steadily, with a boost during the present decade from environmental considerations - the recyclability of PP - and lower raw material prices. But for companies actually making thermoformed packaging the replacement of 'traditional' plastics has been quite a challenge: PP still means PolyProblem to many of them.
