Article: Adsorption dynamics of alkanes on carbon nanotubes: a molecular beam scattering study.(COMMUNICATIONS--GRADUATE)

Molecular beam scattering techniques were used to investigate the adsorption dynamics of alkanes on single wall carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) supported on silica (I). The kinetics of n/iso-butane adsorption on both open-end (o-CNTs) and closed-end nanotubes (c-CNTs) was studied with thermal desorption spectroscopy (TDS). Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX) were employed at Columbia University, from whom we obtained the samples, to inspect the sample morphology and cleanliness both before and after measurements (Fig. 1).
