WATCHING his father rapidly deteriorate from an extraordinarily fit man to someone who could barely walk across a room is a memory Roy Bailey would rather forget.
But wise words of his electrician father John Bailey will stay with him forever.
As a union shop steward at Metro Cammell, his father, known as Jack, felt he had abetter insight than most into the Birmingham company.
"After working years in the industry, my father's view was that the company treated the workforce as expendable items, there to make a profit," says 40-year-old Roy, an IT consultant from Lichfield.
