Steinway Musical Instruments, Inc., has formed a new Japanese subsidiary, headed by Tatsuya (Peter) Suzuki, former president of Yamaha Corp. of America. The subsidiary began operations on March 1.

At a press conference held in conjunction with the International Music Fair in Frankfurt, Bruce A. Stevens, president of Steinway & Sons Worldwide, stated that the new subsidiary, Steinway & Sons Japan Ltd., will be headquartered in Tokyo. As president, Suzuki will oversee all future importing and wholesale operations for Steinway & Sons Hamburg-made pianos marketed in Japan.
