DUDLEY - A two-hour snow delay made for a quiet January morning at Dudley Elementary School. Empty hallways led to a brightly lit library, where a small group of adults gathered in anticipation of one child en route with her parents. Sleeping in wasn't an option for Grade 4 student Audrey LaBonne; a surprise awaited her in the library - a motorized scooter, compliments of the Knights of Columbus.
Audrey, 10, has congenital myotonic dystrophy fiber-type disproportion - a rare genetic disorder characterized by muscle weakness, slow reflexes and low endurance.
