In Europe, satellite remains the mainstay of payperview content. Unlike in the US, where the competitive differences between cable and satellite platforms are more subtle, the disparity between European cabled services and their rivals in the sky is stark. Satellite TV, particularly in Western Europe, has historically enjoyed a position of both technological and content superiority that is only now beginning to be challenged.
