LIVERPOOL will host the Liberal Democrats' main autumn party conference next year at the city's waterfront BT Convention Centre, the Daily Post can reveal.
More than 4,000 delegates will descend on the venue for five days from September 18, 2010 - it will be the first time the city has ever staged one of the main party conferences.
Last night, Liverpool Council leader Lib-Dem Cllr Warren Bradley said the coup for the city showed it was now competing at the highest level.
