BRIEF HISTORY

To place radiation curing in a proper perspective, it is interesting to look back about 25 years. The coatings industry, as well as many other industries, was quite different than it is today. In 1972, almost all coatings were applied from low solids solvent systems that contained on the average about 10% total solids. That is, about nine pounds of solvent were discharged into the environment for each pound of coating that was applied.
