FDA published a final guidance document on voluntary third-party certification programs for human food and animal feed products, Guidance for Industry: Voluntary Third-Party Certification Programs for Foods and Feeds (available at http://www.fda.gov/oc/guidance/third); see also 74 Fed. Reg. 3058 (Jan. 16). Comments on the guidance may be submitted to FDA at any time. This guidance describes the general attributes that FDA believes a voluntary third-party certification program should have to provide FDA with confidence that the products it certifies meet applicable FDA requirements and other certification criteria.
