While the donut market is fairly well developed in U.S. outlets such as supermarkets, growth areas may exist in international food service. Both Krispy Kreme Doughnuts, Inc. and DUNKIN' BRANDS, INC. hope sales of their baked goods increase in Asian markets in 2009, according to Milling and Baking News (Jan. 13).

Krispy Kreme had two successful entries in international markets in the second half of calendar year 2008.
