PHILADELPHIA _ Speed is killing the Flyers. The Red Wings have it, and the Flyers don't. And that is why they have no chance of beating the Red Wings. The Flyers shook off their jitters Tuesday night and played better, but they could not overcome the quickness gap.
They may win a game in Detroit, but they can't come back and win the series. They just can't catch up to them.
Tuesday night the Flyers had promised to come crashing out of the gates and dictate the style of the game. Eric Lindros won the opening face-off, and the Legion of Doom kept the puck in the offensive end for the first 32 seconds of the game, and then the Red Wings took over.
