Did you Know? Adult mayflies don't live long. But when they appear, they can be hard to miss. Sometimes millions of mayflies come out at once, flying low over streams, rivers, ponds, and lakes.
These insects are not feeding. They eat all they need while they live underwater as nymphs. Some kinds eat tiny plants. Others eat tiny animals.
Once mayflies become adults, they fly above the water to mate and lay eggs. All of them soon die, in some cases ...
