We all know the health risks of a high-fat diet but one type of fat is causing increasing concern among health professionals - saturated fat. According to the Food Standards Agency, 80 per cent of us are eating far more than the recommended 20g per day for women and 30g per day for men.
That means a woman can consume her entire daily intake in one croissant (20g of saturated fat). There are about 30g of saturated fat in three slices of buttered toast, or four pork sausages, eight ounces of cashew nuts or a third of a roasted chicken.
