Article: Govt to import 13 lakh metric tons of food grains in current fiscal.

Sangsad Bhaban, Mar 3 (UNB) - The government has a plan to import 13 lakh metric tons of food grains in the current fiscal year, Food and Disaster Management Minister Dr Abdur Razzak informed Parliament today (Tuesday).

Responding to a question from BNP lawmaker Jafrul Islam Chowdhury (Chittagong), he said the government has a plan to import eight lakh metric tons of wheat and five lakh metric tons of rice in the fiscal 2008-09.

The minister said that an agreement has already been signed to import three lakh metric tons of wheat.
