Finland aspires to European Union small country leadership.

Finland has taken on a significant political role in Europe since it joined the European Union on Jan 1, 1995, despite its geographical isolation. It has a number of unique economic strengths, and its people are extremely educated and skilled. It has the highest standard of living in Europe, and has brought considerable political benefits to the European Union through its familiarity with the process of government in Russia. It is now seeking complete integration into Europe, and sees itself as a future leader among smaller countries.
