Article: Fascism: A History.(Special Issue on Crisis and Transition in Italian Politics)

The focus of this book is upon examining fascism across four countries with differing fascist experiences: two obvious candidates (Germany and Italy), one country with historic fascist tendencies evident but not given parallel centre stage (France) and another (Britain) where Fascism never got off the ground on a significant scale. Two initial contextualising chapters (Part I) highlight the various sources contributing to an emergent Fascist ideology and the key variables such as different national political traditions, socio-economic factors, crises and leadership.
