Background

Chronic rhinosinusitis is generally classified as chronic rhinosinusitis without nasal polyps (CRSnNP) or with nasal polyps (CRSwNP) [1]. CRSwNP is characterized by polyp formation and mixed types of Th1/Th2 infiltrates and their corresponding cytokine secretions [2, 3]. There is also evidence that CRSwNP display a Th2-skewed inflammatory response with high levels of IL-5 and IgE [4].
