MADISON, Ga.--Jun. 16--This town, which survived Sherman's march to the sea, is preparing defenses for an enemy far more insidious -- urban sprawl.
About 60 miles east of Atlanta off I-20, this historic town of 3,000 looks over its shoulder and sees suburbanization coming like kudzu. But leaders here and in surrounding Morgan County will not just let it happen; they are devising a strategy to manage it.
