THE Pretoria High Court turned down a R400 000 damages claim by a bus commuter who claimed that a "hefty" bus driver punched her several times.
Veronica Duarte instituted the claim against the bus driver, the late Lucy Mthethwa and against the Tshwane Metro Council, Mthethwa's employer.
Acting Judge Vivian Tlhapi yesterday, in turning down the claim, said the council could not be held accountable for the actions of Mthethwa.
Duarte earlier testified that on May 2, 2006, she boarded the Garsfontein 2 bus to her home in Sunnyside. She managed to get a seat about two rows behind the bus driver, who she described as ...
