Dinnerware suppliers are looking to a softer side of the business, table linens, in an effort to broaden their reach in consumers' kitchens.
"If you have a name you believe in, expanding into textiles allows you to have more powerful presentation of that license," noted Jane Gilmartin, vice presi- dent of merchandising for Linens 'n Things.
Recently, a number of leading tabletop players -- including Pfaltzgraff, Gib- son and Sakura -- have revealed plans to develop or expand lines of kitchen textiles which will bear their name.
