Winfield, Thomas Jr. ALBANY Thomas "Tom" Hardy Winfield Jr., 79, went home to glory on Tuesday, March 10, 2009, at his home in Colonie, N.Y., while in the arms of his wife, his children, grand-children and great-grand-daughter, after a long and courageous fight with cancer. Tom was born on August 8, 1929, to Thomas Hardy and Lillie Ora Winfield in Richmond, Va., where he spent his childhood. Tom graduated from Armstrong High School in Richmond in 1946. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from Virginia Union with a bachelor's degree in sociology in 1950 and later attended Brooklyn Law School and earned his bachelor's degree in law in 1953.
