Carnival Cruise Lines said it will begin operating a schedule of seven-day round-trip Alaska cruises from Seattle in May 2010. That makes it the sixth line to make Seattle a base.
In the 2009 cruise season, 12 ships from five other lines are scheduled to offer Alaska or Pacific Northwest cruises. Holland America Line, Princess Cruises and Royal Caribbean International will be operating from the new Smith Cove Terminal at Pier 91. That terminal, set to open April 24, offers two 1,200-foot berths and is equipped with two shore power plug-ins for cruise ships.
