HONG KONG _ China spread tremendous star-bursts of fire over its repossessed territory Tuesday night, fireworks so loud their thunder could be felt miles off, even through solid mountains of granite in the far western reaches of Hong Kong Island. The glorious display of pyrotechnics and eye-needling lasers was far grander than the British show the previous evening. It was meant to be.
