St John's College won the King Edward water polo tournament for the third year in a row and the fifth time in the last seven years, beating St Stithians|16-12 in the final last Sunday.
The tournament involves just about all the top schools from around the country (KwaZulu Natal's Clifton|College is a notable exception) and is, therefore, a good measure of where the water polo strength in the country lies.
St Stithians have had a good season. They beat St John's when the two schools met earlier in the season and, based on that, and their other results, they went into the tournament as slight favourites.
