NEWPORT NEWS, Va.--Jul. 8--The region's vacancy rate for industrial buildings has gone up, but don't tell that to companies scouring Hampton Roads for small sites to call home.
At mid-year, the rate had grown to 9.9 percent from 9.2 percent in January. Most of that additional available space was in large buildings, real estate experts said. The numbers were compiled by Old Dominion University's Real Estate Center and the Society of Industrial and Office Realtors.
William King, vice president of Harvey Lindsay Commercial Real Estate in Norfolk, said he doesn't see the increase as significant.
