Jul. 7--BankAmerica Corp.'s Phoenix-based credit card center never closes.
It can't. The 2,000-employee operation fields 800,000 phone calls each day from customers across the country.
The growing bank center near Sky Harbor International Airport also handles credit checks for 10,000 credit card applications every day.
And 13 million credit and debit cards are engraved at the facility each year.
Enticed by almost $17 million in incentives and Arizona's favorable credit card laws, San Francisco-based BankAmerica moved its credit card headquarters to Phoenix in 1991.
