TERRE HAUTE--Jul. 7--Terre Haute economic development officials haven't given up hope that American International Freight will remain at the city's airport. But they say the facility will attract another air-cargo company if AIF leaves.
The Ypsilanti, Mich.-based aircargo company employs about 350 workers at its Terre Haute hub, and at at least two-thirds of the work force is part-time.
But the impact of AIF's relocation could extend beyond the immediate loss of jobs it provides, and "the community would galvanize to see that our air-cargo facility is filled," said Terre Haute Mayor Jim Jenkins.
