The Alcoholic Beverage Control division of the Arkansas Department of Finance & Administration hopes to increase the price of all 42 types of permits it issues.

The division has drafted a proposal to present at the legislative session that will convene in January.

Hefty hikes await the holders of wholesale liquor permits, who have been paying the same $1,000 fee since 1935, according to ABC Administration Director Michael Langley. If the proposal is passed, liquor wholesalers will be required to pay $12,500 per year--a bargain, Langley maintains, since $1,000 in 1935 is the equivalent of $28,000 today.
