Steve Lucchi, who co-founded Custom Beverage of Little Rock with Bruce Cochran two years ago, worries that the increase in permit fees will hamper his ability to compete with only other liquor wholesalers permitted in Arkansas: comparative giants Glazer's of Addison, Texas, and Moon Distributors Inc. of Little Rock.
Lucchi argued that the "across-the-board" hike is a regressive fee that will be unfair to smaller Arkansas businesses like his, especially in the current economic climate.
Langley argued that increasing the cost of permits in the current economic climate is "an appropriate time."
