NEW YORK -- Pen and pen needle systems are the wave of the future in insulin delivery, suppliers say.
Because doses are simply dialed in, pens are easier to use and more accurate than syringes, notes Julie Arel, marketing manager for insulin delivery at Can-Am Care. They can also be used more discreetly than syringes, she adds.
That explains why pen needles' 40% sales growth in the United States is far outpacing the growth of syringes, she notes. "If you see what they look like, there's no doubt you'd want to use a pen instead of a syringe," she comments.
