Dubai: US exports to the UAE have grown multifold since the beginning of the century and placed the country as the top list of America's importers in Middle East and North Africa (Mena) region, US ambassador to the UAE Richard Olson said Wednesday. "In 2000, US exports to the UAE amounted to $2.2 billion [Dh8.1 billion]. In 2008, they reached $15.7 billion," Olson said.
"Defence, machinery, autos and even horses make up a large part of this trade, but this does not fully account for services such as legal and consulting," he said during a luncheon hosted by the American Business Council of Dubai and Northern Emirates.
