The nearly complete deployment of the USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71) carrier battle group shows how Navy deployments have dramatically changed since the Cold War, with forces now conducting an even wider range of operations, according to the battle group commander.
The ships and submarines of the battle group--expected to return home later this week--helped evacuate American citizens from Albania; deployed ships off the Zairian coast; policed the no-fly zone over southern Iraq; and conducted a host of miliary exercises with NATO and former Warsaw Pact nations.
