Ann Arbor-based General Automotive Corp., parent of what was once the nation's largest transit bus manufacturer, last week disclosed that its Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing was triggered by the bankruptcy of its flagship subsidiary last year.
The holding company, founded by industry veteran Cruse Moss in 1981, filed for Chapter 11 protection from creditors on April 3 in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Detroit, listing $60,000 in assets and $33.1 million in liabilities. Company officials and their attorneys would not respond to questions about the case at the time.
