Battle Creek, Mich.-based Kellogg Co. is testing new space-saving cereal boxes in Detroit. If the six-month test is a hit with consumers and retailers, Kellogg may roll out the new squatter boxes nationwide. The space-saving box offers the same amount of cereal with less packaging, Kellogg says. By optimizing the box configuration, Kellogg is able to reduce the package size without reducing the amount of food. In addition, the boxes use 8% less paperboard than traditional boxes.
