New York needs to do a better job delivering health care to the 62,070 inmates in the state prison system, a prison watchdog group said.
In a report released last week, the Correctional Association of New York said the prison system needs to address staff shortages, inadequate routine and chronic health care, inadequate access to medications and inconsistent delivery of specialty care services.
Inmates at Auburn Correctional Facility would agree. Sixty percent of the population there rated health care at the facility as poor.
