TOKYO, March 23 Asia Pulse - Menswear specialists Konaka Co. (TSE:7494) and Aoki Holdings Inc. (TSE:8214) are doubling contracted output of washable suits, targeting frugal-minded consumers looking to save on dry-cleaning bills.
In its spring-summer lineup, Konaka aims to sell 100,000 suits that can be washed in a warm shower, up 150 per cent from a year earlier. It is adding a second production line at a Chinese factory contracted to make the Shower Clean suits. Sales in the year starting this spring are targeted at 150,000 suits, with revenues of 4.2 billion yen (US$43.9 million) sought.
