Perioperative nursing rotations have been eliminated from most baccalaureate nursing curricula during the past four decades. Ironically, the demand for college-educated perioperative nurses has increased at the same time because of the complexities of modern surgical care.(1) Some of the reasons for the decline in perioperative education experiences in baccalaureate nursing programs include the
* nursing curriculum concept that baccalaureate education should prepare practitioners who are generalists rather than specialists,
