Earlier this year, the Chief of Naval Operations, ADM Mike Mullen, stated that sustaining combat readiness was one of his three biggest priorities.
Following suit, RADM Alan Thompson, Commander, Naval Supply Systems Command, stated that logistics support needed to be "projected to afloat, expeditionary and ashore units from a streamlined, 'operationalized' ashore infrastructure."
In order to 'operationalize,' U.S. Fleet and Industrial Supply Center (FISC) Yokosuka has established an operations department whose goal is to keep FISC more in tune to the needs of its customers.
