Har-Ber Meadows was supposed to be more than another subdivision.

It's a new-urbanism development in Springdale meant to create a neighborhood community, and a profit-seeking venture expected to help provide money to operate the Harvey and Bernice Jones Center for Families in that city.

Dr. Joel Carver, former chief executive officer of the center, a director of the Jones charities and a fried of Bernice Jones, says the 425-acre tract is where Mrs. Jones lived as a youngster. More recently, the property was owned by the Jones Investment Co., which deeded it over to the Harvey and Bernice Jones Charitable Trust 2 and then sold it to Har-Ber Meadows.
