Multivitamin use has little or no influence on the risk of common cancers, cardiovascular disease (CVD) or total mortality in postmenopausal women, according to research published in the Archives of Internal Medicine in February. The study evaluated data from 161, 808 participants enrolled in the Women's Health Initiative clinical trials (68, 132 subjects in three overlapping trails of hormone therapy, dietary modification and calcium and vitamin D supplements), as well as 93, 676 women from an observational study.
