So how will the millions of dollars raised by the upcoming increase to Minnesota state sales tax be spent?
We now have recommendations for where one-third of the $231 million expected to be generated over the next year will go. The Lessard Outdoor Heritage Council on Monday recommended that $68.6 million be spent on 19 projects selected from more than 90 proposals.
The package would protect, enhance or restore 232,000 acres, including 129,000 acres of forests, 24,000 acres of prairies, 71,000 acres of wetlands and 340 miles of lakeshore.
