This was my first postmortem glance at some of the works of Erick Hawkins, who died in 1994. I wanted to see how this choreographer, who concentrated on essences with a quiet fastidiousness, would hold up -- and how the company holds up without his presence.
I don't know exactly who does what in the maintaining of repertory and rehearsing of the company. Hawkins's wife, composer Lucia Dlugoszewski, is listed as artistic director. Cathy Ward is director of repertory and technique. Company members Douglas Andresen and Todd Rosenlieb are listed as rehearsal assistant and company director, respectively.
