SYDNEY, March 26 Asia Pulse - Australian hardware giant Bunnings (ASX:BWP) has lost its appeal against a New South Wales government ban on Easter Sunday trading.
The retailer was one of many to apply through the Office of Industrial Relations (OIR) to open on Easter Sunday, citing the potential economic benefits in increased spending and the fact that not everyone shares the significance of the day.
But the state government stood by laws introduced last year preventing most retailers from opening on Good Friday, Easter Sunday, Christmas Day, Boxing Day and before 1pm on ANZAC Day.
