US drug major Bristol-Myers Squibb has withdrawn the application for a European centralized marketing authorization for Ixempra (ixabepilone), 2mg/ml powder and solvent for concentrate for solution for infusion.

The agent was expected to be used to treat locally-advanced or metastatic breast cancer after failure of previous cytotoxic chemotherapy treatments. It was to be used in combination with capecitabine.
