According to recent research published in the journal Biology of Blood and Marrow Transplantation, "Allogeneic stem cell transplantation is the only known curative therapy for myelodsyplastic syndromes (MDS). We present the transplant outcomes for 84 adult MDS patients, median age 50 (18-69 years), undergoing allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) at the University of Minnesota between 1995 and 2007."
