The rumors are true. The woman who writes the quintessential English murder mysteries has never even lived in England. In fact, she grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area and has lived in Southern California for the last 25 years.
But Elizabeth George doesn't discount the possibility that she may have lived in England in a former life.
``It's not like I have a sense of deja vu when I'm there, but I do have a great sense of being in touch with a power greater than myself when I'm in these places, especially the English countryside. It touches me at a very deep level,'' she says.
