CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga March 25 (PNA) --- Officials of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) here closed down a Chinese-owned black sand mining firm in Zambales for operating within 70 meters from the shores of Candelaria town in violation of environmental laws.
Lawyer Danilo Uykieng, director of the regional Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) of the DENR in Central Luzon, slapped New Gian Hwa Company (NGHC) a cease and desist order and directed the mining company to immediately dismantle and pull out all its equipment from the coastal village of Binabalian in Candelaria town.
